20719c82f4 perf tools: Add build test with GTK+
So that when we use:

make -C tools/perf build-test

One of the entries will ask for building with GTK+ 2.

9300acc6fe perf build: Add a LIBPFM4=1 build test entry
So that when one runs:

  $ make -C tools/perf build-test

We make sure that recent changes don't break that opt-in build.

60da3a12c5 perf build: Add NO_SDT=1 to the default set of build tests
We forgot to add it, so one would have to explicitely ask for it to be
run, fix that by adding it to the set of tests that are performed by
default when one does:

  $ make -C tools/perf build-test

It was being exercised only in the make_minimal test, this patch makes
it be tested in isolation, i.e. disabling only this feature.

5bc7aac3e7 perf build: Add NO_SYSCALL_TABLE=1 to the build tests
So that we make sure that even on x86-64 and other architectures where
that is the default method we test build the fallback to libaudit that
other architectures use.

I.e. now this line got added to:

  $ make -C tools/perf build-test

       make_no_syscall_tbl_O: cd . && make NO_SYSCALL_TABLE=1 FEATURES_DUMP=/home/acme/git/perf/tools/perf/BUILD_TEST_FEATURE_DUMP -j12 O=/tmp/tmp.W0HtKR1mfr DESTDIR=/tmp/tmp.lNezgCVPzW

7b1642f2fc perf build-test: Honour JOBS to override detection of number of cores
When one does:

  $ make -C tools/perf build-test

The makefile in tools/perf/tests/ will, just like the main one, detect
how many cores are in the system and use it with -j.

Sometimes we may need to override that, for instance, when using
icecream or distcc to use multiple machines in the build process, then
we need to, as with the main makefile, use:

  $ make JOBS=N -C tools/perf build-test

Fix the tests makefile to honour that.

e19b7cee02 make use of make variable CURDIR instead of calling pwd
make already provides the current working directory in a variable, so make
use of it instead of forking a shell. Also replace usage of PWD by
CURDIR. PWD is provided by most shells, but not all, so this makes the
build system more robust.

remove that 'cd . &&', move the DESTDIR= and O= to the end, as they don't
convey that much information besides the fact that they are being set to some
random directory just for this build, move the meat, i.e. the meaningful

79191c89a0 perf build: Use feature dump file for build-test
To prevent the feature check tests to run repeately, one time per
'tests/make' target/test, this patch utilizes the previously introduced
'feature-dump' make target and FEATURES_DUMP variable, making sure that
the feature checkers run only once when doing build-test for normal test
cases.

However, since standard users doesn't reuse features dump result, we'd
better give an option to check their behaviors. The above feature
should be used to make build-test faster only. Only utilize it for

68824de19a perf build: Test correct path of perf in build-test
If an 'O' is passed to 'make build-test', many 'test -x' and 'test -f'
will fail because perf resides in a different directory. Fix this by
computing PERF_OUT according to 'O' and test correct output files.
For make_kernelsrc and make_kernelsrc_tools, set KBUILD_OUTPUT_DIR
instead because the path is different from others ($(O)/perf vs
 $(O)/tools/perf).

eb807730c0 perf build: Pass O option to Makefile.perf in build-test
Unlike tools/perf/Makefile, tools/perf/Makefile.perf obey 'O' option
when it is passed through cmdline only, due to code in
tools/scripts/Makefile.include:

 ifneq ($(O),)
 ifeq ($(origin O), command line)
 	...
 	ABSOLUTE_O := $(shell cd $(O) ; pwd)
 	OUTPUT := $(ABSOLUTE_O)/$(if $(subdir),$(subdir)/)
 endif
 endif

This patch passes 'O' to Makefile.perf through cmdline explicitly
to make it follow O variable during build-test.

'make clean' should have identical 'O' option with 'make'. If not,
config-clean may error.

7be43dfb1e perf build: Set parallel making options build-test
'make build-test' is painful because of time consuming. In a full test,
all test cases are built twice with tools/perf/Makefile and
tools/perf/Makefile.perf. 'Makefile' automatically computes parallel
options for make, but 'Makefile.perf' not, so all test cases is built
with one job. It is very slow.

This patch adds '-j' options to Makefile.perf testing. It computes
parallel building options like what tools/perf/Makefile does, and pass
'-j' option to Makefile.perf test.

ed63f34c02 perf tools: Make perf depend on libbpf
By adding libbpf into perf's Makefile, this patch enables perf to build
libbpf if libelf is found and neither NO_LIBELF nor NO_LIBBPF is set.

The newly introduced code is similar to how libapi and libtraceevent
are wired into Makefile.perf.

MANIFEST is also updated for 'make perf-*-src-pkg'.

Append make_no_libbpf to tools/perf/tests/make.

The 'bpf' feature check is appended into default FEATURE_TESTS and
FEATURE_DISPLAY, so perf will check the API version of bpf in
/path/to/kernel/include/uapi/linux/bpf.h. Which should not fail except
when we are trying to port this code to an old kernel.

Error messages are also updated to notify users about the lack of BPF
support in 'perf record' if libelf is missing or the BPF API check
failed.

tools/lib/bpf is added to TAG_FOLDERS to allow us to navigate libbpf
files when working on perf using tools/perf/tags.

4887805384 perf tools: Add test for building detached source tarballs
Test one of the main kernel Makefile targets to generate a perf sources
tarball suitable for build outside the full kernel sources.

This is to test that the tools/perf/MANIFEST file lists all the files
needed to be in such tarball, which sometimes gets broken when we move
files around, like when we made some files that were in tools/perf/
available to other tools/ codebases by moving it to tools/include/, etc.

Now everytime we use 'make -C tools/perf -f tests/make' this test will
be performed, helping detect such problems earlier in the devel cycle.

ee4ad93e82 perf tests: Factor make install tests
Factoring make install tests to check for multiple files. Adding default
set of installed files for install and install_bin tests.

Putting the 'test' line into the log file instead to the screen as it
gets more complex now.

If the tests fails to find a file, following message is displayed:

$ make -f tests/make make_install_bin
- make_install_bin: cd . && make -f Makefile DESTDIR=/tmp/tmp.nCVuQoSHaJ install-bin
  failed to find: bin/perf

dbad41893c perf tests: Add broken install-* tests into tests/make
Adding install-* tests into tests/make. Those tests are
broken, so commenting them out right away.

* Nothing get installed for install-man, install_doc and
  install_html targets, they just rebuild the documentation.

* I've got following error for 'install-info':

  $ make -f tests/make make_install_info

  $ tail -f make_install_info

c0ec110888 perf tests: Add 'make install/install-bin' tests into tests/make
Adding 'make install' and 'make install-bin' tests into tests/make. It's
run as part of the suite, but could be run separately like:

  $ make -f tests/make make_install
  - make_install: cd . && make -f Makefile DESTDIR=/tmp/tmp.LpkYbk5pfs install
    test: test -x /tmp/tmp.LpkYbk5pfs/bin/perf
  $ make -f tests/make make_install_bin
  - make_install_bin: cd . && make -f Makefile DESTDIR=/tmp/tmp.dMxePBMcFT

c9311674e7 perf tests: Add DESTDIR=TMP_DEST tests/make variable
Adding TMP_DEST tests/make variable to provide the DESTDIR directory for
installation tests.

Adding this to existing test targets, since DESTDIR variable 'should
not' affect other than install* targets. We can always separate this if
there's a need for DESTDIR-free build test.
