After write SSD completed, bcache schedules journal_write work to system_wq, which is a public workqueue in system, without WQ_MEM_RECLAIM flag. system_wq is also a bound wq, and there may be no idle kworker on current processor. Creating a new kworker may unfortunately need to reclaim memory first, by shrinking cache and slab used by vfs, which depends on bcache device. That's a deadlock. This patch create a new workqueue for journal_write with WQ_MEM_RECLAIM flag. It's rescuer thread will work to avoid the deadlock. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
